Welcome to the resource page for Using Humor to Foster Abstract Thinking.

This resource provides details on the humor and intelligence unit and related activities that I have developed over 20 years teaching in Kannapolis City Schools.  I use this unit with every group of gifted students as they first enter Kannapolis Intermediate School as 5^th graders.  Along with developing abstract thought, these activities foster a classroom climate that promotes risk-taking within a relaxed atmosphere, allows students to laugh and converse with each other as they learn more about their classmates, and begins the sense of community that continues throughout their time in AIG at our school.  The activities and corresponding materials are provided in the menu to the right.
